The transition from Sound Portraits to StoryCorps occurred because of a belief that everyone’s story must be told and that was impossibile for one person or organization to do that. Earlier this year, Dave told the TED Talk audience, “I’d see how this simple act of being interviewed could mean so much to people, particularly those who had been told that their stories didn’t matter.”
These historical images of San Francisco primarily come from one collector who wishes to remain anonymous. The collection may be the greatest in private hands, amounting to over 100,000 negatives and prints.
